If you suffer from an embarrassing case of Rosacea, you’ve probably been looking for something that will make you look and feel better. Luckily, the technology is finally here to help you achieve just that! At Health and Beauty Physicians, we help residents of all natural pigmentation colors and ethnicities treat the redness, irritation and visible blood vessels associated with Rosacea with new Broadband Light – or BBL – technology.
What is BBL?
BBL is one of the most exciting things to happen in the cosmetic treatment of skin conditions, like Rosacea, but it is also used for other conditions like unwanted pigmentation marks, freckles, ages marks, aging and loss of firmness in the skin. Used as both a preventative measure to reveal healthy skin, and as a treatment option for those already suffering from skin conditions like Rosacea, BBL is the world’s most powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) on the market.
How Does BBL Work?
BBL, which should never be confused with laser treatment, works by sending pulsated light at your skin, and gently heating up the layers of skin on your treatment area, which can be your face or anywhere else on your body. The heat from BBL will promote skin cell regeneration and leave you looking and feeling fantastic! Because everyone is different, and to ensure you get the best results possible, Dr. Sani will select the best wavelength and filter based on your unique case.
What Should I Expect During My BBL Treatment?
During your BBL treatment, Dr. Sani of Health and Beauty Physicians provides patients with protective eyewear, so that the powerful BBL light doesn’t penetrate their eyes. Dr. Sani will then apply the smooth, glass surface of the BBL handpiece to your treatment area. Light is then delivered to your skin surface, depending on your unique situation and personalized treatment plan. Most BBL patients describe BBL treatment as having a slight stinging sensation, which they find tolerable. Your BBL session will last a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the scope of your treatment.
What Will I Look Like Immediately After My BBL Treatment? Will I Need to Take Time Off Work?
BBL patients are happy to report that BBL treatments come with very little downtime. While your face will be red for an hour or so after your treatment, you can apply makeup immediately after your procedure, allowing you to put your best face forward and return to your work or school day without anyone knowing you’ve had work done.
How Long Do BBL Treatments Last?
BBL treatments are not a one-time event for Rosacea or other preventative measures or skin conditions. Most BBL patients require a series of three to six BBL treatments performed every three to four weeks. Additionally, you may need further BBL treatments as subsequent flare-ups of your Rosacea occur.
You should consider BBL treatments to be an important part of your skin maintenance and hygiene. Just as you daily brush and floss your teeth to keep them healthy and prevent cavities, regular BBL treatments help to remove unhealthy looking skin and promote healthy skin growth.
Will BBL Remove My Acne Scars?
Many patients with Rosacea have associated acne scars. While BBL does an excellent job at removing the red pigmentation that comes along with Rosacea, it does not treat acne scars. Dr. Sani will work with patients who have acne scars to come up with a personalized treatment plan for them to remove the scarring, which depending on the severity of your acne scars and your skin pigmentation, may include using laser or micro-needling treatment options.
Removing Acne Scars with the Halo Laser
There are several laser treatments available on the market, but none of them are as remarkable as the Halo laser. This skin rejuvenation treatment also comes with minimal downtime. After a few days, you’ll be back to normal, as your skin begins producing collagen to naturally fill in your acne scars.
Removing Acne Scars with Micro-Needling
As amazing as the Halo Laser is, it isn’t for everyone, especially for Bay Area patients with darker skin pigmentation, or deeper acne scars. For these patients, Dr. Sani often suggests micro-needling treatment. With micro-needling, your body’s natural skin rejuvenation process is triggered, causing your treatment area to produce collagen and elastin, form new capillaries and create new skin cells. Depending on your unique case, you may need 3 or more micro-needling treatments to achieve your ideal results. But don’t worry – the treatment will be well worth it when you can finally put your best face forward!
